SigmaBronze 7™ (SAE 660)
SigmaBronze 7, our own designated material, represents a viable alternative to SAE660 in many applications because of its availability in metric sizes.
Like SAE660, the alloy is a leaded, continuously cast copper-based alloy suitable for applications under medium load whilst using adequate lubrication. SigmaBronze 7 is not subject to dezincification and provides good sliding and dry running characteristics. The material finds use in applications such as pump and valve manufacture since it offers good brine resistance.
Benefits:
Typical commercial applications include:
- Good wear resistance
- Excellent machining & anti-friction qualities
- Versatile with a broad range of uses
- Available in metric sizes
Own Designation
SigmaBronze is a trademarked range of bronze alloys developed by our parent company, Smiths Metal Centres Limited. We develop these products to improve the performance of traditional bronze alloys currently on the market. By pushing the boundaries of what is possible, we give engineering businesses improved options in terms of specification and performance.
Engineering applications
Automotive fittings, fuel & water pump bushes, hydraulics, bearings for lifting tackle, thrust washers, pump & valve components.
Material Specifications
BS1400 LB4 , SAE660, SigmaBronze 7
Availability
We stock SigmaBronze 7 in round bars, flat bars and tubes. We also provide in-house processing services to cut your engineering raw materials to size.
