CA104 Bronze

One of the most commonly used aluminium bronzes, CA104, has excellent resistance to corrosion in chloride environments and saltwater erosion.

The alloy is also known for its excellent shock and wear resistance and high strength. CA104 also retains its properties at cryogenic temperatures. This grade is the wrought version of 10/5/5 aluminium bronze. It is often compared with BS1400 AB2 when a cast alternative is acceptable. The weldability of the alloy is also good and offers relatively good overall machinability.

About Aluminium Bronze

Aluminium bronze utilises aluminium as its primary alloying element. The introduction of aluminium in this process increases the strength of the material while improving corrosion resistance compared to standard bronze alloys. CA104 is one of many aluminium bronze alloys currently available because minor adjustments to the amount of aluminium in the alloying mix can cause significant differences in performance.

Commercial Applications

CA104 aluminium bronze finds use in applications including marine hardware, engine components, heavy-duty bushes and bearings, worm gears, valve seats, pump components and thrust washers.
