Acetal Plastic (POM C, POM H)

Known as polyoxymethylene, ACETAL is a general purpose high-quality engineering plastic which is available in a wide range of grades and forms.

The plastic is a superior, all-around engineering product with good wear life in gearing and bearing applications. Acetal provides excellent stability when dimensional accuracy is essential.

Chemical Resistance

Chemical resistance is similar when compared to Nylon 66 though slightly more prone to attack. ACETAL offers good resistance to common solvents, esters, lubricants, ketones and aqueous solutions of acids and alkalis. The material is not resistant to formic acid, concentrated mineral acids, phenols, cresols and alkalis or strong oxidising agents such as halogens.

Product Range

We stock various Acetal grade materials, including Acetal (POM-C) and a version which is reinforced with 25% glass fibre. We also supply Acetal products that provide electrical conductivity (ESD60 & ESD90) and a grade specifically for medical applications. Acetal GLD160 provides improved bearing and wear performance, while Acetal (POM-H) offers improved indentifcation.

Commercial Applications

Acetal finds use in various commercial applications, including mechanical engineering, gears, electronics, medical instruments and pump components, with many versions developed for these applications.
