Aluminium 7075
Used in applications where the strength of the material is critical whilst good corrosion resistance is not essential, 7075 aluminium alloy is a high-strength aerospace aluminium grade.
Benefitting from very high yield and tensile strengths determined by the temper chosen, the alloy also offers superior stress corrosion resistance. The machinability of 7075 aluminium alloy is fair. We stock the material in various grades and forms, including T651 plates.
Benefits:
Typical commercial applications include:
- Very high tensile and yield strength
- Superior stress corrosion
- Fair machinability
- Up to 500 MPa yield and 560 MPa tensile strength depending on the chosen temper
Composition
Including zinc in the alloying process gives the alloy much greater strength at the expense of overall corrosion resistance, weldability and machinability. 7075 aluminium finds use in applications which are subject to high stresses, such as aerospace structures.
Light-weighting
Our material offers an impressive strength-to-weight ratio providing similar strength to many steel alloys but with less weight involved. The alloy finds suitability in light-weighting applications, particularly if corrosion resistance, machinability and weldability are not significant.
Processing
We provide guillotining, plate sawing and billeting services in-house to support the engineering raw material supply process.
Stock Availability
We stock 7075 aluminium alloy in sheet, plate and round bars.
